Wiki Maintenance done! (plus many other updates)

Journal Entry: Mon Aug 10, 2009, 7:53 PM

----------------------------------------------------
Wiki Maintenance done
----------------------------------------------------
after an 8-month long job, i am finally able to say that the wiki's have fully recovered! (if you want to know the full details, let's just say bleh! ). No one's fault, these things happen.

They all are running MediaWiki version 1.15.0 plus many extension and security features I've looked into. Please Test them out, and give me feedback on what you think.

----------------------------------------------------
Main Wiki
----------------------------------------------------
Also, if everyone gets a chance, please take some time to explore our main wiki. On it, is information on some of my other ideas for games, a monster database i am proposing, and many other game related stuff. It is the main wiki for all that is Grifkuba's Gaming Services.

The wiki is available here: [link]

----------------------------------------------------
Card Game
----------------------------------------------------
I am still working on the card game. This is for a few different reasons:

1. Have something people can work when they don't want to work on Monster Trainer, but still wish to be involved in GGS.
2. A place for me to experiment with the latest in wiki-technology, CSS and other stuff; but, not interfere with flow of work on active projects.
3. Plus since it's not meant to be a stand-alone game, what i do there has no effect anywhere else.

I mainly only work on it when i need a break from my other projects, but that doesn't mean it has higher or lower precedence to my other projects; i just make sure i devote more time to the projects that need it (sorry for the serious tone ).

The wiki is available here: [link]

----------------------------------------------------
Monster Trainer
----------------------------------------------------
The staff is currently on break, to allow certain individuals work on their personal and/or professional live (like myself). I'm hoping by the end of august we will be back up to full activeness, but that's just me. Once we are set, I'd like to schedule a meeting of the division and a demo release. If you would be interested in either of those, please contact me, and i will add you to the division 1 contact group.

----------------------------------------------------
Other stuff
----------------------------------------------------
I am currently in talks with 4 people whom maybe interested in joining GGS. Of these (if i remember correctly), there are 2 members from dA and 2 members from the RPG Maker forums. *crosses fingers* Let's hope i am successful. I'm not the best recruiter in the world, but i try my best darn it! I just get caught up with the question "what do you want me to do", b/c my usual response is "depends on what you are capable of / have to offer " or some kind of conversation ruiner. This is why thankful for my realizers. They are capable of quantifying what a project needs, an area i still have trouble with.

On a related note, i've started putting together this page: [link]

It's a place for project managers to post "help wanted" ads. Once there, the recruiter can then post the above link (and an associated #anchor) on any site they are a member of, and keep the respective post short and to the point, reserving the bigger details for the wiki.

That is all for this update. Have a good rest of the summer.

Thank you for reading,
:icongrifkuba:

i'm still alive!

Wed Aug 5, 2009, 8:26 AM
for those of you who are curious, and haven't given up on me, i am still alive!

i'm currently not active on dA, I've had a lot of person and school things to do over the past year, but i'm done with all that and am getting back into the groove of things.

Project Updates
********************************
The wiki's running the projects have been moved to new locations and their software is currently getting an update. I will post the new URL's up when they are ready.

--------------------------------
Monster Trainer
--------------------------------
Monster Trainer is coming along very well! although we have had no progress this summer, before that we were making progress with story, art, battle system, dungeons, and many other things!

--------------------------------
Card Game
--------------------------------
this wiki has become my fun wiki. i work on things here, than bring them over to other projects. But if anyone's interested in learning about the card game, please contact me.

The game still needs to be alpha tested, but soon i will be looking for beta testers.

9 Colors of Hair
********************************
I put up a story back in march called "9 Colors of Hair", thinking it was going to be no more than the opening scene for a game. Then i got some feed back, and based on that feed back, i decided to make it a stand-alone story that hopefully lends itself very easily to be a game setting.

After a few months of thinking, i came up with the second chapter and posted it in a few places, including dA. The most feedback i got on it was from a gamer forum i am a member of. So, after seeing that, i pulled down chapter 2, changed it based on the feedback, and decided to post it only on that forum.

Thank you to everyone who read my story. i will keep chapter 1 up here, so if anyone wants to read it they can. Anybody intersted in reading the rest of the story, look here: [link]
